New framework agreement with DG Competition: Economic assessment in State aid cases

10.01.2024 - Competition, market and regulation

Oslo Economics, in collaboration with Schjødt, has entered into another framework agreement with the Directorate-General for Competition (DG Competition) of the European Commission.

Under this framework agreement, Oslo Economics and Schjødt will provide expert support to DG Competition in state aid cases. This includes assessments of various types of transactions involving the use of State resources, such as equity investments, loans, guarantees, or sales. These assessments will focus on determining whether the transactions are done on market terms and whether they involve State aid to undertakings. In other cases, Oslo Economics may assist DG Competition in evaluating the proportionate level of State aid involvement (funding gap analysis).

In conducting these assessments, Oslo Economics and Schjødt’s will utilize their combined expertise and experience in financial analysis, competition economics and competition law. Over recent years, Oslo Economics have been involved in various projects including valuation analysis, financial due diligence, market analysis, and concrete assessments of state aid. We look forward to assisting the Commission’s work on the enforcement of State aid law, and to contribute to the efficient competition and the efficient use of public resources in Europe.

This is our second framework agreement with DG Competition. In the fall of 2023, we entered into a framework agreement (joint with Wikborg Rein) on reviews and evaluations of policy measures related to state aid and competition within the EU. More information on the this framework agreement can be found here.
