Andreas Kostøl has extensive experience in both politics and academia. He began his career in the research departments of Statistics Norway (SSB) and Norges Bank, before moving to the USA to become an associate professor of economics at the WP Carey School of Business. He was also a faculty research fellow at the world-renowned research institution, the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER) in Cambridge, and at the Institute for the Study of Labor in Germany. Today, Andreas is an associate editor at the leading journal, the Journal of the European Economic Association, and started as an associate professor of economics at BI Norwegian Business School in August. His specialty is labor market and public economics, and he has published several articles in leading economic journals such as the Quarterly Journal of Economics and the American Economic Review. His research has had practical impacts, including serving as a basis for discussions in the U.S. Senate and the Ways and Means Committee regarding social security reform in the USA. In Norway, his work has been used by the expert group for the new bankruptcy law. His published work is used in doctoral programs in economics in Europe and the USA.
