Oslo Economics has assisted the Norwegian National Rail Administration with their outlook for 2050. The Norwegian National Rail Administration outlook is part of the basis for The National Transport Plan.
The outlook shows that in the future, railways will be crucial to ensure an effective transport of passengers in the largest urban areas. Opportunities for rail freight are also described.
If some strategic choices at national level is taken, railway may continue to be competitive with trucking.
