Mentor program for newly recruited healthcare professionals

30.01.2025 - Health and life science

Commissioned by The Norwegian Association of Local and Regional Authorities (KS), Oslo Economics in collaboration with Professor Grethe Eilertsen at the University of South-Eastern Norway conducted an evaluation of the mentor program for newly recruited healthcare professionals.

The program has positively influenced recruitment, professional development, and job satisfaction for both new employees and mentors. Turnover appears to be lower in organizations where the program has been implemented, though it remains uncertain whether this can be directly attributed to the program or other factors. Overall, managers, mentors, and mentees consider the mentor program to be an effective initiative for their organization and recommend its adoption by others.
