On 6 October, a judgment from the Court of Appeal concluded that Frogn municipality in Norway had granted aid to a municipally owned gym (Bølgen) in a way that could distort competition. Thus, the aid is contrary to EU/EEA state aid regulations.
The judgment also awarded three competitors to the municipal gym (two gyms and a yoga studio) damages due to unlawful stade aid.
Oslo Economics assisted Arntzen de Besche with economic analyses related to the aid granted by the municipality. Harald Bergh and Arne Rogde Gramstad served as expert witnesses in the court. In addition, Hannah Marøy had a central role in the preparation of the analyses.
The judgment is available here (in Norwegian).
