Oslo Economics has extensive experience in competition and market analysis. Now, we are further strengthening our expertise with the appointment of Simen A. Ulsaker, Ph.D.
Simen has expertise in competition economics and industrial economics, with a particular focus on the grocery sector. He obtained his doctoral degree from the Norwegian School of Economics (NHH) in 2016 and served as a visiting scholar at the Toulouse School of Economics during his doctoral studies. From 2016 to 2020, he worked as a postdoctoral researcher at NHH, and since 2020, he has held a position as Associate Professor II at the same institution.
At NHH, Simen is affiliated with the research project FOOD, a collaboration between NHH and NorgesGruppen, aimed at generating research and new knowledge about the grocery market, particularly empirical aspects related to market structure, competition, and productivity. Simen has also published research articles on topics such as the impact of cross-border shopping on the demand for groceries in Norway, the empirical relationship between competition and risk-taking in the banking sector, post-merger analysis based on loan-level data from the corporate sector, and how producers should motivate their retailers to offer customer services.
Ulsaker joins us after working as a Senior Research Scientist at Telenor, and he strengthens our robust team of experts in competition analysis. We are excited to work together with him in the time ahead!
