Together with researchers from the University of Oslo and representatives from the pharmaceutical industry, Christoffer Bugge, Erik Magnus Sæther and Francisco Oteiza at Oslo Economics have published a peer-reviewed article on the systematic use of expert elicitation in PharmacoEconomics.
We have analysed how structured expert elicitation can be combined with early-phase clinical evidence to inform health economic evaluations and reimbursement decisions.
Using a Norwegian case study in lung cancer, we show that cost-effectiveness results based on phase II evidence supplemented with expert judgement are consistent with those obtained when phase III trial data become available.
The findings suggest that expert elicitation can support earlier (potentially conditional) reimbursement decisions in situations with limited evidence.
