Emil Mathias Strøm Halseth

 

Emil holds a Master’s degree in Economics and Business Administration from the Norwegian School of Economics (NHH), with a specialization in economic analysis. He has been a PhD Research Scholar at the same institution, where his work has focused on competition and industrial organization, particularly in the grocery retail market. His doctoral research includes analyses of the competitive effects of Coop’s acquisition of ICA, cross-border shopping and tax revenue loss, as well as consumers’ price knowledge and its implications for behavior and price sensitivity.

Emil has a broad academic background spanning business economics, macro- and microeconomics, and finance, with a particular focus on empirical research and econometric methods, especially the identification of causal effects using natural experiments. He also has extensive teaching experience as a teaching assistant in subjects such as econometrics, programming, industrial organization, and the use of large language models (LLMs) in research and business.
