Stroke management in atrial fibrillation patients with rheumatoid arthritis

In collaboration with REMEDY-Centre for Treatment of Rheumatic and Musculoskeletal Diseases at Diakonhjemmet hospital, we have published an article investigating stroke management in atrial fibrillation patients with rheumatoid arthritis. The investigation relies on Norwegian registry data from hospitals and pharmacies. The article is now published in the journal Rheumatology and can be read here.

  • RA patients diagnosed with AF are at a further increased risk of stroke compared to non-RA patients with AF.
  • RA patients with AF are also less likely to receive oral anticoagulation treatment.
  • There is a need to improve stroke prevention in AF patients with RA.
