Jostein Skaar is an economist from the University of Bergen and holds a PhD from the Norwegian School of Economics. Jostein has long and unique experience as a competition economist – including work as a researcher at SNF, as a national expert at EFTA’s surveillance authority, as a director at the Norwegian Competition Authority and extensive experience as a consultant. Jostein has been part of competition economics since it became a professional field and has been central to its development. Among other things, he was a member of the committee developing the white paper for an updated competition law in Norway, presented in the spring of 2012. He has an excellent knowledge of relevant research and methods, as well as the practical application of insights from the research. Jostein has extensive experience investigating economic issues in general, as well as extensive experience in investigating issues at the intersection between law and economics. Furthermore, he has a good knowledge of finance and has been a member of the Financial Supervisory Authority’s board. Jostein is recognized as one of the world’s leading competition economists, among others by Whos Who Legal.
