On Tuesday, June 10, Oslo Economics and the University of Oslo hosted a seminar on health services research and the development of general practice services. The seminar brought together researchers and professionals for a discussion on the current state of the service – and its future direction.
General practitioner Liv Augestad shared experiences from clinical practice, and researchers Tor Iversen, Birgit Abelsen, Geir Godager, Johannes Tyrihjell, and Kine Pedersen presented research findings that shed light on developments in the general practitioner scheme. A panel discussion featuring Erik Magnus Sæther, Marte Kvittum Tangen, Nils Kristian Klev, Anne Jensen, and Ole Alexander Opdalshei contributed to a nuanced conversation on research and the road ahead.
Several indicators now point in a positive direction – with improved recruitment, strengthened funding, and increased satisfaction among general practitioners – but important challenges remain. The seminar highlighted the key role of research in tracking developments, clarifying dilemmas, and informing new measures.
Thank you to all who contributed and participated!
