A report by Oslo Economics for the Norwegian Directorate for Children, Youth and Family Affairs, looks into the cost and benefit of implementing universal design in all Norwegian primary schools buy 2030. The report finds that the benefits outweighs the costs.
There is a large group of pupils, teachers, parents and other school visitors, who aren’t disabled, but who will benefit to a limited degree from easier accessibility. There is a small group of disabled pupils, teachers and parents who will benefit to a large degree. In sum, the benefits are substantial.
The Norwegian Directorate for Children, Youth and Family Affairs will use the report in its further work to implement the plan for universal design of Norwegian primary schools.
