Public measures need better economic impact assessment

Oslo Economics has assisted the Office of the Auditor General of Norway in a survey of the quality of the impact assessment of public measures. The survey shows that economic analysis is conducted infrequently, and that impacts are insufficiently described and quantified for other than the government itself.

Economics analysis is more often conducted in sectors that have many investment projects under the Ministry of Finance’s framework for major public investments.
