Øyvind Masst is a Senior Economist at Oslo Economics. He holds a PhD in economics from the University of Glasgow, where he specialized in housing and labour market dynamics. In addition, Øyvind holds two master’s degrees in economics: a Master of Research from the University of Glasgow and a Master of Science from the University of St Andrews, as well as a Bachelor of Science in Economics with Politics from the University of Buckingham. He has previously worked as a researcher at The Institute of International Monetary Research and as an intern at the Norwegian Embassy in Prague.
His expertise lies in dynamic stochastic general equilibrium (DSGE) models and empirical analysis. For his doctoral thesis, he examined the interaction between housing and labour market, with a particular focus on the effects of Margaret Thatcher’s reforms in the United Kingdom, and the role of labour mobility in the United Kingdom and United States. In addition to his doctoral research, he has in his masters degrees examined the role of housing markets in relation to financial stability, household balance sheets and economic welfare. In addition to his specialisation in structural modelling, Øyvind has a broad methodological expertise and is proficient in both estimation and filtering of model results, counterfactual analysis, simulations, as well as macro- and microeconomic methods.
